What:
The Garage is literally a parking garage in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago.

Each month, usually 3rd Sunday (except for April 23, 2017 because of Easter on the 3rd Sunday) 75 to 100 vendors of vintage and antique goods on the first 3 levels, and ramps, of the structure.

It's covered, so vendors don't need tents and customers won't get rained on. You'd be surprised by how awesome a parking garage filled with vintage can look.

When:
Vintage Garage is held the third Sunday of the month, April through October, from 10 am - 5 pm. We usually try for a Holiday Market in November and just added on the all new Chicago Vintage Clothing & Jewelry in February of 2017 and am pleased to say it will be back for 2018. Keep an eye on our schedule RIGHT HERE and we try to keep things updated.

Where?
The Vintage Garage is located on the east side of Broadway between Foster & Argyle at 5051 N. Broadway Chicago, IL 60640. Addresses may be different on pop-up events so if it's not a normal Vintage Garage, double check the address.

Who can come?
Anyone who loves vintage! If you wear it, use it, decorate with it or live it. This event is family friendly. Sometimes kids like it, sometimes they hate it. But welcome anytime! Kids under 16 are free. Dogs on a leash that can handle crowds of people and many people who want to pet him/her are welcome. If your dog doesn't like it (like mine) keep him home and don't take the chance of bringing.

What's for sale?
Mainly vintage and antiques. All categories are represented: vintage clothing, art, jewelry, vintage furniture, home decor, Midcentury modern, lots of 1940's through 1980's, vintage lighting, industrial decor, vintage music, vinyl records and so much more! Most items you find are at least 25-years-old.

Do you do Appraisals?
From 12pm to 4pm April through October we do verbal evaluations on vintage items. Click to find out more about our appraisals here.

What's selling?
Our season begins in April and has become our largest show. Depending on weather, smalls are very popular and as the season progresses, items get larger. The end of the season (September and October) also gets busy and dealers have been hunting for vintage all summer long, so the goods get even better.

Apartment sized pieces are big sellers, as is Midcentury, all season long. During the Record Ramp in June and October, we find music related items to be in demand. vinyl records, instruments, CDs, etc. The July show is Rockabilly and vintage clothing and vintage dresses are front and center.

Vintage Wedding is our new theme for August. We'll look to showcase items that would be great for the vintage bride. More info coming on that.

It can take a bit for vendors to carve out their niche and build a customer base at the Garage. Our customers are serious about vintage. It's important to keep in mind that as more and more people find out about us, the customers' needs and wants will change.

Bonus themes
Every month has a theme. It's just a great bonus. All categories are always represented. Themes are in addition to the great variety vintage vendors are already bringing. It’s just fun. Dress the part if you want. If you are coming to shop, just because it’s Record Ramp, that doesn’t mean vendors with clothing and jewelry or other items won’t be there. It means they will save their vinyl for these shows. A theme is just an added bonus but we ALWAYS have just about all categories of vintage.

Who can sell?
Anyone with vintage items to sell, including estate liquidation. You don’t have to be an “official” business to sell at Vintage Garage. If you have acquired an estate and need to liquidate it, the Vintage Garage is a great place to do it. If you are new and have never sold before, we are happy to answer any questions you may have and to help you get started. All vendors are required to collect and pay sales tax and follow the laws of the State of Illinois. Click HERE TO FIND OUT MORE about selling.

How do vendors do?
Vendors who bring a good variety of reasonably priced items will do the best. Someone who carries all price ranges and varieties. We have vendors who specialize in “guy stuff” who are extremely successful, as are those who sell clothing and kitsch. Unique items to decorate the home also do great, especially Midcentury or painted furniture pieces. Vendors who come monthly and have built a customer base are the most successful because they've taken the time to really understand the customer base and cater to what they are looking for.

How do I apply?
Fill out a Vendor Application to sell at Vintage Garage. Fill it out and pay. If we have a question about your application, you will hear from us. Otherwise, welcome aboard!

What if I’ve never sold vintage or antiques before but really want to?
You can! It's easy! I've written a few posts on selling, start by reading about selling vintage here and another about the first show I ever sold vintage at here.

How much does it cost to sell?
The fee is $175 for a full space and $125 for a 1/2 space. You can find out more on our sell vintage page.

What happens day of show?
For vendors, all spaces are pre-assigned. Vendors line up at the entrance at 6:30 a.m. on the day of the show. We lead you to your space where you can pull your vehicle in and start setting up immediately. We open the doors at 10am and sell until 5pm. Once the show is over, you pack your vehicle with what’s left, wait your turn to pull out, go home and count your profits! We try to make things extremely easy for a fun and productive day. You can see more on this subject on our Dealer Load-In page.
