Wangdue Eco Lodge is pioneering eco-tourism in Bhutan. Established in March 2015 at an altitude of 1459M in Dhamina village, it overlooks the beautiful Ngashigaykha village, a confluence and the majestic Wangduephodrang Dzong. On a clear morning, one can see the perennially snowcapped Gangchen Tag (6784M) behind the Dzong.
An ancestral home is preserved in its pristine form, refurbished to accommodate a lounge and bar on the ground floor. The family continues to live upstairs. Another building with a Dining, Kitchen and conference rooms, and the four cottages has been built in close semblance to traditional styles. The fusion of green architectural ideas into traditional structures makes it a unique experience for anyone!
Each Cottage comprises two suites a short walk along the ridge. Each suite is self-contained for a couple or family, with an option for twin or king-sized beds. Along with its large dressing and bathroom space, the bedroom leads onto a large wrap-around balcony with a view of its organic farm and the surrounding villages.
The Eco Lodge is at a travel-strategic location easing exploration of Western and Central Bhutan. Plenty of cultural and historical excursion destinations lie within a short travel distance.
Wangdue Eco Lodge will not only strive to satisfy guests; the local communities will also benefit from employment opportunities created by the Lodge’s commitment to creating a Green Community that ensures a low carbon footprint.
