bioC GmbH was found in 2010 as an initiative of organic certification bodies, associations in the organic food sector and service providers. In 2014, IFOAM-Organics International joined bioC GmbH as shareholder in order to promote both the worldwide adoption of the initiative as well as the global availability of verified up to date certification information.

Through this joint collaboration, bioC builds a global register, allowing certification bodies the publication and users an immediate access to certification information.
bioC assures that only certificates that have been validated by certification bodies as being authentic are included in the system. Therefore the appearance of fraudulent certificates in this system is impossible.
Certification bodies as well as bioC users save time and money through the efficient verification of certificates and the certification status of suppliers and their products. Special attention is paid to data protection and security.
Currently information about approximately 100,000 certified operators is made accessible by organic certification bodies on the internet platform www.bioC.info. This includes information about national legal regulations in each country as well as private standards. 44 certification bodies and label owners from different countries are already participating in the directory. The bioC initiative is also welcomed by control authorities; the responsible British authority DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) as well as resonsible Irish authority have chosen www.bioC.info as their main directory for the publication of certificates of British and irish organic companies. In Austria, the cooperation between easycert, bioQS and bioC serves as the directory for organic operators.

By adding more countries and certification bodies to the register, it grows continuously to provide a worldwide availability of validated certification information and an efficient way of verifying the status of suppliers and their products.
Further certification bodies are welcome to participate in bioC.

Get to know bioC (Information for certification bodies)

Registered companies can create password protected supplier lists and will be informed if an organic supplier is losing his certification status. The certification status of all organic operators listed at bioC is checked and updated continuously. Users can also monitor single relevant products. Product monitoring is available for several standards.

With the supplier check bioC offers a full service for monitoring the certification status of your organic suppliers. Certificates of suppliers, that are not available in the bioC registry, bioC is checking the certification status incl. product scope in an individually agreed rhythm. As costumer, you receive the check results with a regular status report.
