Organic crop, vegetable, and livestock production are significant contributors to Wisconsin’s agricultural landscape and economy. Second in the nation in the number of organic farms, Wisconsin continues to be a leader in organic agriculture. The University of Wisconsin Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension program, led by Dr. Erin Silva, strives to support organic farmers through its research and outreach efforts.
This site is devoted to work undertaken by the UW Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension Program at University of Wisconsin-Madison, under the direction of Principle Investigator Dr. Erin Silva. There are many other faculty, staff, and students associated with other programs that are also investigating aspects of sustainable agriculture – the Center for Integrated Agricultural Studies is a great place to start if you’re interested in discovering more about all the interesting work happening at UW-Madison.
